VERITAS has announced a new version (3.5.1)
of its Global Cluster Manager software, an out-of-the-box solution
that allows administrators to centralise control of their disaster
recovery environment for application availability and data replication
products from EMC, Hitachi and VERITAS on all major platforms, including
AIX, HP-UX, Linux, Solaris and Windows.
Global Cluster Manager 3.5.1 is Web-based software
that, according to VERIRAS, helps lower the cost of implementing
disaster recovery technology, while helping IT departments meet
service and availability levels for their critical applications
and data. It also helps eliminate reliance on proprietary hardware
by helping administrators efficiently utilise heterogeneous environments.
New enhancements to VERITAS Global
Cluster Manager include:
* Wide-area disaster recovery for Microsoft Exchange 2000 servers
* Support for management of Hitachi TrueCopy, Hitachi's data replication
suite
* Support for the IBM AIX operating environment
* Management of clustered Linux servers.
Disaster recovery for Microsoft Exchange
VERITAS Customers looking to implement wide-area disaster recovery
for Exchange environments will benefit from the capabilities designed
for Microsoft Exchange in this new version of VERITAS Global Cluster
Manager. The software now manages clustered Exchange servers from
a single point, and coupled with replication management, facilitates
wide-area application recovery for corporate e-mail, helping to
reduce the speed required to recover Exchange servers from a site
failure.
