Lessons from last autumn’s UK-wide financial sector pandemic planning exercise will be shared with non-participant firms at a seminar on 19th July. This half-day event at the QEII Conference Centre, London, follows the success of the recent Market-wide Exercise follow-up seminar in April. The aim is ‘to share lessons learned with those firms that did not participate in the exercise and to provide them with a forum to discuss the challenges they face as they develop their own pandemic plans’.
Presentations will cover many of the challenges highlighted by the exercise ‘including a review of HR policies to address periods of high absenteeism, the implications of counterparties and other dependencies including disruption to power supplies, telecoms infrastructure and transport’.
The exercise, which was led by the Tripartite UK financial authorities, assessed how prepared the authorities and the financial services sector are for managing the business continuity consequences of a ‘flu pandemic.
