A survey conducted by Reed for UK Business Continuity Awareness Week has asked London commuters whether they would travel to work during an influenza pandemic.
40 percent of 200 people surveyed said that they won’t be turning-up for work if a pandemic influenza outbreak impacts the UK. Only a quarter of these could work remotely from home.
48 percent of respondents said that ‘no matter what they’d still endeavour to travel to work’, with many showing this resolute approach even when they had the facilities to work remotely.
If faced with a pandemic, 73 percent of employees believe that their company should pay for an anti-viral vaccination or other drugs. If left to their own devices only 40 percent of people would pay ‘whatever it cost’ to get an anti-viral, a third would pay up to £50 and 20 percent would pay between £100 and £500.
