CoolAir UPS was chosen as the Gold winner from a number of new products submitted to SearchDataCenter.com for consideration in four categories. The awards were judged by the editors of TechTarget's SearchDataCenter.com, in conjunction with a team of users, industry experts, analysts, and consultants.

Winners were selected based on the following criteria: innovation, performance, value, functionality, ease of use/manageability, and ease of integration into existing environments.

Based on Active Power's patented Thermal and Compressed Air Storage (TACAS) technology, CoolAir UPS provides uninterrupted power and backup cooling for critical equipment and processes. The system uses thermal energy and compressed air to spin a small expansion turbine to provide 85 kW of backup power for up to 15 minutes for three-phase UPS applications.

CoolAir UPS is an alternative means to provide highly reliable uninterrupted power, requiring far less maintenance over its 20-year life than traditional battery-based UPS solutions. CoolAir UPS is the only UPS system on the market today which produces cool air during system discharge. This in turn mitigates heat build-up in data centers when air conditioning systems become unavailable due to power disruptions.
