The British Red Cross Disaster Response Challenge

Get free weekly news by e-mailAt least one Continuity Central reader was amongst the seventeen participants in the first British Red Cross Disaster Response Challenge, which took place last year. The event raised £13,000 towards the work of the British Red Cross and gave the participants the opportunity to discover how they would personally respond in a real disaster situation as well as learning and exercising decision making skills useful in any crisis management scenario.

The next Challenge will be held in April 2007. The two-day event is built around a hypothetical disaster that unfolds in real time, stretching even the calmest and most practical of delegates as they develop a disaster response plan.

The Challenge is run by British Red Cross staff including experienced members of the ERU, and experts in disaster response logistics. Areas covered include logistics, communications, first aid and casualty evacuation and delegate security.

When: 20-22 April 2007
Where: Bramley, Hampshire
Booking fee: £50
Minimum sponsorship: £500 (All money raised through this event will benefit the work of the British Red Cross)
