NEC Corporation of America has announced the launch of ExpressCluster X WAN Edition for Windows, its next generation of integrated application and data disaster recovery solutions.
Built on a completely new technology foundation, ExpressCluster X WAN Edition is claimed to be the first to offer broad support for Microsoft Exchange’s Standard to Enterprise editions in active/passive configurations while ensuring superior performance and manageability with full data protection over conventional cost-effective wide area network infrastructures.
“The NEC ExpressCluster X WAN Edition continues to innovate - being the first integrated application and data disaster recovery solution to broadly support Microsoft Exchange,” said George Wu, director of software business, NEC Corporation of America. “In today’s fast moving, data-driven environment, IT administrators who deploy our latest disaster recovery solution can be assured that they have one of the most complete business critical system continuity solutions with superior performance, manageability, and total cost of ownership.”
ExpressCluster X WAN Edition is a powerful disaster recovery solution for business critical systems, which dramatically simplifies and improves critical application and data availability and accessibility. This new ExpressCluster provides the ability to easily choose or change between synchronous and asynchronous disk mirroring modes to meet a wide range of data protection needs. Furthermore with its intuitive Web-based graphical user interface (GUI) and remote management capabilities, administrators benefit from streamlined cluster control and enhanced visibility.
Using either a periodic network request or heartbeat signal, the ExpressCluster X WAN Edition can automatically execute recovery procedures if a system fails to receive required signals from another server. Additionally, all critical processes and resources are activated on a standby system so critical applications and data are recovered within minutes instead of hours or days; providing rapid failure detection and transparent recovery. Maintenance downtime is also reduced to a minimum as administrators can easily execute necessary software and hardware upkeep, which require a server reboot, with minimal service outage so that critical processes can continue uninterrupted.
The ExpressCluster X WAN Edition supports Intel X86 compatible servers and NEC’s fault tolerant servers that run Microsoft Exchange Standard or Exchange Enterprise editions on industry standard Windows server operating systems.
