The 2006 Excellence in Business Continuity Planning Award

Get free weekly news by e-mailThe Business Recovery Managers Association (BRMA) has given its 2006 Excellence in Business Continuity Planning Award to Barry Cardoza of Union Bank.

The Excellence in Business Continuity Planning Award is presented annually to a professional or organization displaying ‘excellence in the advancement of the theory and practice of business continuity, disaster recovery, contingency and continuity planning, and emergency response’.

The 2006 award recipient, Barry Cardoza, is vice president /manager of business continuity, contingency planning & disaster recovery at Union Bank of California. His nomination by several BRMA members recognized his ‘active service on ad-hoc committees, providing meeting venues, speakers, and evaluations, and volunteering for anything and everything as the need arises.’

Cardoza’s 30 year career in business management, business process analysis, and continuous process improvement also includes over 16 years in banking. Barry designed and administered a very successful business continuity planning program at Union Bank. He is currently responsible for Union Bank’s international business continuity strategy, policy, compliance, and program implementation. He holds leadership positions on two coalitions of California financial institutions dedicated to increased crisis preparedness and response. Over the past year Barry’s BRMA activities included service as a board appointee for conducting program evaluations, writing newsletter articles, and as inspector of BRMA board elections.
