The US Cyber Consequences Unit has published a checklist which is intended as a comprehensive survey of the steps that corporations and other organizations should take to reduce their vulnerability to cyber attacks. The checklist and counter measures have been sorted into six categories: hardware, software, networks, automation, humans and suppliers.
Each of the main areas in which cyber-attacks could take place has been subdivided further into two or more attack avenues.
The checklist provides a useful document to assess current information security measures, to highlight potential gaps and to provide ideas for mitigation and protective measures.
