PAS 56, the Publicly Available Specification for business continuity management will be superseded this week, with the launch of the new British Standard for Business Continuity Management, BS 25999.
According to BSI the new standard ‘establishes the process, principles and terminology of business continuity management, providing a basis for understanding, developing and implementing business continuity within an organisation and to provide confidence in business-to-business and business-to-customer dealings’.
Over 5,000 copies of the draft standard were downloaded from the British Standards' website: 20 times more than the previous highest consultative standard download. Responses to the draft have now been evaluated and BSI approved the final version at a meeting on 31st October.
