F5 and Double-Take partner to enable enterprises to accelerate data replication over WANs

Get free weekly news by e-mailF5 Networks and Double-Take Software, Inc. have signed a partnership agreement where Double-Take Software will join F5's Technology Alliance Partner Program. The partnership will allow the provision of a joint solution, combining F5's WANJet appliance and Double-Take to give organizations the ability to protect and recover business-critical data over wide area networks.

The two companies have completed interoperability and performance testing using real-world data across a live WAN link that demonstrates how F5's WANJet helps optimize the WAN links over which Double-Take performs its data replication processes. This combined solution enables organizations to significantly accelerate data protection and recovery of applications over the WAN. The resulting acceleration of data transmission can help companies meet more strict recovery point and recovery time objectives.

F5's WANJet appliances and Double-Take can protect data from a wide variety of applications including Microsoft Exchange, SQL, SharePoint and Oracle. WANJet uses advanced TCP optimization and compression algorithms to increase the amount of data that can be transmitted over any given connection by up to 20 times.

"Continuous data replication using Double-Take's asynchronous, byte-level replication technology is an extremely efficient way to protect data across great distances with minimal impact to network bandwidth," said Bob Roudebush, director, Solutions Engineering, Double-Take Software. "In combining this efficient replication with WANJet's TCP optimization, customers can protect larger amounts of data over their existing infrastructure without investing in additional network capacity."
