Non-statutory evacuation and shelter guidance has been published by the Civil Contingencies Secretariat. The Secretariat says that it has been written in response to calls from local responders and planners and was developed in close consultation with a wide range of stakeholders, including the Local Government Association (LGA), Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO), Chief Fire Officer’s Association (CFOA) and the Voluntary Sector Forum (VSF).
The guidance was also informed by two conferences on evacuation and shelter held by CCS in London and Manchester in March 2006.
The document is aimed at Category One responders under the Civil Contingencies Act, but will also provide a useful reference guide for business continuity managers in general.
