Get free weekly news by e-mailA study by Coleman Parkes Research on behalf of Citrix into the business continuity practices of European companies has found that 52 percent of Irish companies ‘provide systems that would allow staff to keep working in the event of a business interruption’, compared to 21 percent of French, 25 percent of Italian and 33 percent of German companies.

Many Irish companies see business continuity planning as essential, with 70 percent of those surveyed believing that a major disaster or event would have catastrophic or very severe effects on their ability to function in the absence of a business continuity plan.

40 percent of Irish companies assign specific responsibility for business continuity to a manager who is responsible for the development and implementation of a business continuity plan. This compares favourably with Germany (25 percent), France (27 percent), Italy (18 percent) and Spain (30 percent).
