UK Civil Contingencies Secretariat develops Civil Contingencies Act information dissemination portal

Get free weekly news by e-mailUnder the regulations of the Civil Contingencies Act (2004), Category 2 Responders, many of which are private sector bodies (e.g. utilities, transport companies), have a duty to co-operate and share information with Category 1 responders to inform multi-agency emergency and business continuity planning frameworks.

The UK Civil Contingencies Secretariat has now launched a new section of the http://www.ukresilience.info/ website to help Category 2 Responders to supply information as required under the Act. This provides a portal for Category 2 sectors to ‘pro-actively publish information about their industries to promote awareness among front-line responders’ and will ‘provide a valuable mechanism for ensuring that Category 1 responders have ready and easy access to much of the generic information they need’.
