On Friday, August 18th, the Partnership for Public Service will hold a press briefing on ‘Government after Katrina: Lessons Learned’ featuring FEMA Director R. David Paulison. Mr Paulison will provide an update on FEMA's efforts to improve its emergency preparedness since Hurricane Katrina.
In addition, the partnership will release a report, ‘Covering Katrina: Trends in Katrina Media Coverage,’ that analyzes trends in Hurricane Katrina media coverage over the past year, particularly examining the number of stories about topics such as lessons learned, fraud, waste and poverty.
The briefings is part of the Partnership for Public Service's ‘Government after Katrina’ project, which aims to improve government performance by sharing information about the disaster and highlighting Katrina's lessons to drive forward-looking solutions.
As part of the project the partnership has launched a new website, http://www.governmentafterkatrina.org, which is ‘devoted to improving government performance by sharing information about Hurricane Katrina and highlighting Katrina’s lessons’.
