Intellectual property protection is top risk for companies operating in China

Get free weekly news by e-mailIn a recent report published by Manufacturing Insights, an IDC company, supply chain research director Bob Ferrari reveals the results from the firms annual ‘Low Cost Manufacturing in China’ survey. The top findings show that intellectual property protection and supplier strategies remain as the top two risk areas facing manufacturing and retail executives with operations in China.

Other risk areas, outlined in last year's report and ranked by respondents in this year's survey, include logistics and transportation, infrastructure, and national as well as local political events.

"By identifying and ranking these risk areas, our aim is to help supply chain executives understand current trends for manufacturing lead times, inventory, and transportation costs associated to products originating in China, as well as to anticipate future changes," says Bob Ferrari, program director of Supply Chain Strategies at Manufacturing Insights, and author of the report.

Ferrari will present survey findings and make recommendations for manufacturers with operations in China in a Manufacturing Insights' Web conference on August 30, 2006. To register for the Web conference, go to: http://www.idc.com/getdoc.jsp?containerId=IDC_P12978
