| Edge Business Continuity Center will provide Iowa businesses with work-area and data recovery services
EdgeBCC is a 30,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility engineered to provide businesses with both data and work-area recovery facilities. The structure has been designed and tested to withstand 200 mph sustained winds, sits atop two separate power grids and includes redundant connections to the Internet. "Upon completion, EdgeBCC will be the only building of its kind in the Des Moines metro area allowing businesses from Iowa and surrounding states to utilize secure and redundant data center facilities for normal business operations and disaster recovery workspace during a natural disaster or other business interruption," said Peder Malchow, president of LBC Technology. To manage the facility, EdgeBCC has appointed technology veteran Travis Thompson as chief operating officer. Thompson brings 14 years of experience with the security and engineering processes associated with wide area networking, voice-over-Internet-protocol and storage networking. Currently a Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) and a Cisco Certified Security Specialist (CCSP), Thompson will oversee daily operations including monitoring of the site's two data centers, coordinating the usage and testing of the disaster recovery workspace and administering the security of both the physical building and the private network.
