The 72nd annual meeting of the Southern Governors' Association (SGA), taking place between July 15-17 at the JW Marriott Hotel in New Orleans, La., will have disaster recovery high on the agenda.

Plenary session one of the event will explore the topic of ‘Improving Emergency Preparedness’.

Speakers will discuss the performance of the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC) during last year’s hurricane season and their recommendations for improvements relative to all potential disasters.

The session will also look at what resources and logistics support can be made available by the private sector in times of emergency, and will highlight the growing base of knowledge regarding hurricane and storm surge prediction.
