Research conducted amongst IT directors by The Bathwick Group, in conjunction with IBM, has found that just a third (35 percent) of respondents claimed to have a documented and published business continuity strategy.
The research also highlighted the various approaches taken around load and systems management. For example, 44 percent of respondents claim to have enough spare systems capacity to deal with all peaks in demand. While this shows that bandwidth is available to deal with all eventualities, it also demonstrates an ongoing under-utilisation of the systems in place. Just six percent have core systems that adjust up and down as demand changes. The remaining 50 percent are prepared to accept a decrease in systems efficiency when demand increases.
The research surveyed 236 IT directors from a range of industry sectors.
