The World Health Organization has advised businesses
not to allow staff to travel to Taiwan because of the SARS disease
risk.
In a warning issued yesterday, the WHO stated:
"As a result of ongoing assessments as
to the nature of outbreaks of severe acute respiratory syndrome
(SARS), WHO is now recommending, as a measure of precaution, that
people planning to travel to Taiwan province, China, consider postponing
all but essential travel. This is an extension of the advice issued
on 8th May recommending the postponing of non-essential travel to
Taipei, and is based on information received by the WHO detailing
the spread of SARS beyond that city. This temporary travel advice
will be reassessed regularly."
