The Americas & Australasia Business Continuity Awareness Week

Get free weekly news by e-mailThe organizing committee behind this year’s Business Continuity Awareness Week in The Americas and Australasia have published the following introductory letter:

Business Continuity Awareness Week is an international initiative to promote the awareness of and need for business continuity in the business community and beyond. Once again, the initiative is being launched regionally. The UK and Europe promoted Business Continuity Week in March 2006. The Americas and Australasia initiative will take place the week of May 7-13, 2006 .

Building on our 2004 and 2005 Awareness weeks we are collaborating to ensure businesses and citizens are prepared for the inevitable. You are invited to join this year’s initiative: “synergy to achieve a common goal - global resiliency”

Over the past few years we have experienced several different events that have varied in scope and impact. The need for business continuity is expanding as we continue to live under the threat of pandemics, terrorism, increasing natural disasters and the list goes on. Business continuity initiatives are no longer restricted to the business community but have crept into our personal lives as well.

Call for case studies and business continuity management tips and techniques
We invite you to participate in this initiative. Please send us your experiences, ideas and materials you would like to share with the industry. This could be an opportunity for you to ‘showcase your organization’ for a job well done by sharing your ‘case study’ or ‘BCM tips and techniques’.

So often through trial and error we stumble upon a great solution – why not take the opportunity to share your experience with your colleagues. A paragraph, a page, a chapter … however much it takes to share, we’re ready to learn from you!

We recognize you may need to remove reference to your organization or a business group within to maintain the privacy and confidentiality of employees, clients, shareholders and/or business partners. Please be sure to include your contact email at the end of your article! All correspondence should be forwarded to bcaw2006@yahoo.ca by April 19th.

To get you started we are including materials to help you launch your own Business Continuity Awareness Week initiative within your organization and/or with your clients and business partners:

* Information Sheet: where to go for further assistance (knowledge/training)

* Fact Sheet: what, when, where, why & how of business continuity management

* Promotional Sheet: how to elevate and maintain the momentum for business continuity in your organization

* Promotional poster: PDF Word PowerPoint

It is our intent to have the shared materials distributed on Tuesday, May 2nd. As well we will be sharing:

* Upcoming BCM Industry Events – conferences, symposiums, training

* Recent Events Sheet – chronological listing of events since bcaw2005

Business Continuity Awareness Week continues to be a volunteer driven initiative and without your participation and support would not be possible. In closing, we encourage you to share with your colleagues the upcoming Americas and Australasia Regional Business Continuity Awareness Week, including the sharing of this letter to your employees, clients, members for association organizations, vendors and external partners.

Wishing you a successful Business Continuity Awareness Week 2006!

Your colleagues, the BCAW2006 Committee.
