Power4, a specialist in the hire, sale and maintenance of generators, temporary power and lighting solutions, has launched a four hour emergency power response service to organisations across the UK. Within four hours of an organisation experiencing a power outage, Power4 will have a back-up power solution up and running to ensure business continuity.
Explains Paul Wilson, managing director of Power4: “It is all well and good businesses spending significant funds on IT back-up systems, but a secondary power solution is at the core of any business continuity plan. It is because of this we launched a specialist Business Continuity Planning unit in January and this is the first of a number of specialist services that will be provided through this division.”
The service, ‘Power 4 Continuity’, involves a Power4 consultant carrying out an initial assessment of an organisation’s power needs, which includes looking at the amount of power required, conducting a risk assessment, assessing the best place to position the hook-up point(s) and generator(s), and looking at cabling requirements. Once the relevant preparation work has been carried out, a generator simply hooks up and activates the back-up power solution.
Ten organisations across the public and private sectors have already signed up to this service in the last three months. Each customer is given a specialist 24/7 helpline number to call if their operations suffer a power outage. A generator (or generators) is then dispatched from one of Power4’s offices throughout the UK , with a guarantee of being there within at least four hours. In addition, Power4 carries out regular checks on the back-up power solution to ensure it is operational when needed.
Concludes David Sanderson, head of the Business Continuity Planning unit at Power4: “In many cases, especially in busy city centres, it is not practical or cost effective to have a permanent power generator on-site. By offering this service, organisations have the flexibility and re-assurance of a ‘plug in and play’ back-up solution.
“All of our technical engineers are qualified to deliver generators and consequently, although we say four hours, over 50 percent of generators are delivered and activated within just two hours.”
