Fifth annual conference, January 25 th-26th 2006, Central London.
This conference, now in its fifth year, is the premier forum for discussion of business continuity and disaster recovery issues in the UK financial services sector. Chaired by John Milne, head of business continuity at the FSA, this year’s conference features addresses from Stephen Collins, head of business continuity division, Bank of England, Hannah Gurga, policy adviser – financial resilience, HM Treasury and from Kathryn Wakeman, manager, Resilience Benchmarking Team, FSA. Alun Evans, the director of Civil Resilience, Office of the Deputy Prime Minister will make a keynote address.
The first day of the conference focuses on the particular concerns of London and the financial markets in the wake of July 7th, and the lessons that have been learned not only here, but also in the United States. The second day analyses different aspects of the business continuity package from the point of view of the individual firms and opens with a session on the challenges of managing this function within a global organisation. Reflecting current concerns, the conference will also include a discussion of how a financial institution would cope with a major flu epidemic.
