NetEx has announced the release of its HyperIP Data Migration Optimizer (DMO) program, claimed to be the industry’s first DMO service, developed to enable large-scale data migration acceleration over existing IP networks and to provide a simpler, more cost-effective alternative to Fibre Channel over IP technologies.
HyperIP DMO addresses the requirements of organizations that need to move large amounts of mission critical data between locations.
“Many organizations today are unable to address their migration requirements when multiple terabytes of data need to be moved within restricted timeframes. Migration efforts are further complicated because most organizations rely upon less effective transport technologies, such as TCP, which inhibits performance throughput and keeps them from fully utilizing their expensive bandwidth resources,” said Robert MacIntyre, vice president of business development and marketing at NetEx. “HyperIP DMO overcomes these transport limitations and provides a simple, secure solution with predictable and consistent performance that operates over standards-based IP networking infrastructures. The same technology helped EarthLink move over 60 TB of data at more than 1 TB per hour between their Pasadena and Atlanta data centers during a recent mail migration and consolidation effort.”
HyperIP DMO migrations can be accomplished with a wide variety of data replication/migration products such as: EMC SRDF Adaptive Copy and SRDF/A on Gigabit Ethernet Directors, EMC Centera & Celerra Replicator, Network Appliance (NetApp) SnapMirror and SnapVault, Softek Replicator, Symantec Volume Replicator and Replication Exec, IBM Tivoli Storage Manager, Oracle DataGuard and DB Rsync, NSI Double-Take and industry-standard FTP applications.
