The UK Met Office has repeated its warning that the UK faces a colder than average winter, especially in southern regions of England, and has scheduled a special briefing event aimed at emergency planners and business managers. This will take place at the Royal Institution, London, on Thursday 24 November 2005 and will provide:
* More details on the latest predictions for the winter season;
* A briefing on the science behind the forecasts and the probability of extreme events;
* More detail on potential regional variations.
Met Office experts will explain how long-term forecasts are produced and discuss how long-term weather forecasts can ‘help keep UK plc running’.
Places will be charged for this specialist event and are limited, but interested parties from the above industries and sectors are welcome to apply using the form below:
