On 30th November Automata will launch its new ‘Technology Continuity and Disaster Recovery Masterclass’ at the Alexandra Conference Centre in Swindon. Automata says that this course will be especially valuable for technology specialists involved in providing continuity and disaster recovery solutions and those who wish to achieve the grade of Specialist Member of the Business Continuity Institute (SBCI). In addition, it will be ideal for generalist business continuity professionals seeking to enhance their technological expertise.

The course will explain the ten standards of the Business Continuity Institute and the Disaster Recovery Institute International. It will then examine the role of technology continuity and disaster recovery within business continuity management programmes. In doing so the course will particularly focus on business impact analysis and its special role in enabling technology professionals to understand the business priorities for application/software recovery. From these fundamentals, delegates will be guided as to how to cost effectively create resilience within the technology infrastructures of their organisations. In this regard key issues will be covered such as media management, infrastructure design and support, backup/restore strategies and operations centres. Finally, methods for technology plan testing and exercising will be extensively reviewed.

The course fee of £995 includes all accommodation, meals, refreshments and access to conference centre and leisure facilities. Delegates will be able to book additional nights at the conference centre, if required. Those travelling from outside the UK will be given an extra night’s accommodation free of charge to assist with travel arrangements.

Course delegates will be provided with:

* Free memory stick information including a BCM toolkit with documents such as systems recovery checklists to use within their organisation.

* Free BCI Assessment and support with applications for the Business Continuity Institute Specialist Grade (SBCI) see www.thebci.org/specialist.htm

* Free BCM help desk support for students’ follow up enquiries and ongoing implementation concerns within their organisation.

Garry Poole and Jim Burtles will lead the Automata Technology Continuity & DR Masterclasses. Both Garry and Jim are Fellows of the BCI, were founder members of the Institute and have worked with major technology organisations across the globe. Garry was a UK Business Continuity Manager of the Year (Corporate Insurance & Risk Magazine) and subsequently BCM director of a major telecommunications company.
