Various vendors give details of how they will incorporate DPM into their offerings:
- HP announced the immediate availability of HP ProLiant Data Protection Storage Servers, a new line of data protection products built on Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager. More information here
- Quantum is launching its DPM5500, an appliance based on System Center Data Protection Manager. Quantum's high-performance disk system provides customers with increased granularity of restores, differentiated features such as hardware-based compression for lower cost of ownership, and integrated data migration to tape. - NSI Software, Inc. issued a press release to point out that DPM and Double-Take work well together and complement each other for a broad range of scenarios. NSI and Microsoft have collaborated on a joint solution to enable Double-Take to protect the DPM server. This includes using Double-Take for disaster recovery of the DPM data, which eases the recovery time and process in the event of a catastrophe. Read press release (PDF)
- LiveVault Corporation launched LiveVault InSync Service for Microsoft DPM, which supports and extends the capabilities of Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager. LiveVault InSync for DPM automatically and securely transports Microsoft DPM server data electronically offsite to a remote facility where it is available for immediate recovery in the event of a system failure, virus, human error or natural disaster. - CommVault has announced that it will offer integrated support for DPM, within the CommVault QiNetix Unified Data Management suite. CommVault embraces the DPM environment by:
• Adding extensive application support for Microsoft Exchange, SQL Server, SharePoint and Active Directory data.
• Protecting the Microsoft DPM server itself, enabling the backup and restore of DPM itself to any media device.
• Enhancing the recovery capabilities of Microsoft DPM collected files protected by CommVault to any PC in the network, without the need to restore via the Microsoft DPM server. www.commvault.com
