Fortress Technologies and Rajant Corporation have jointly developed a solution that combines wireless network security with a completely portable broadband network system to ensure the continuity and security of data and voice communications during disaster situations.

Fortress' security technologies will be embedded in Rajant's BreadCrumb devices, which are mobile, battery-powered wireless LAN systems. The combination of these technologies brings to market the first “truly mobile, self-configuring, standards-based, self-healing wireless broadband network system with high-assurance, market-proven security to meet the rigorous standards of mission critical deployments”.

BreadCrumbs are battery powered, lunchbox-sized, ruggedized broadband devices that can be deployed quickly and easily to establish a wireless mesh network. Breadcrumbs are compatible with any wireless device meeting 802.3 (ethernet) and 802.11b (Wi-Fi) standards. Fortress Technologies will provide the embedded FIPS 140-2 certified, Layer 2 encryption to ensure that all information transmitted across the ad hoc networks is secure.
