New ‘PCMCIA write-blocking pod’ enables the capture of computer forensic evidence from removable media

Get free weekly news by e-mailVogon International has launched its new ‘PCMCIA write-blocking pod’ as an addition to its investigation hardware product portfolio. Developed in Vogon's laboratories, this is claimed to be the only commercially available product of its kind, and should prove indispensable to all forensic investigators involved in examining electronic equipment.

The PCMCIA (Personal Computer Memory Card International Association) interfaced pod provides the means, via a selection of industry standard adapters, to take evidentially sound images from a range of increasingly common computer media types. These include flash cards, SD cards, memory sticks and other removable media types commonly found in digital cameras, PDAs and other mobile computers.

Clive Carmichael Jones, Vogon's operations director, stated "This new product means an investigator can now be confident of providing evidence from removable media formats in a safe, reproducible, defensible and reliable manner. This was not the case until now. The PCMCIA pod will therefore make a significant contribution to the integrity of expert witness statements in courts of law."
