By May 2006 local authorities must promote business continuity to local organisations.
The UK government has published draft regulations and statutory guidance related to the Civil Contingencies Act. These have been revised following a public consultation which took place from December to March.
The government has also confirmed that it remains on track to bring the bulk of the duties in Part 1 of the Act fully into force in November 2005 but that the duty for local authorities to promote business continuity to local organisations won’t come into force until May 2006.
The next step of the process will be to lay the final regulations before Parliament and publish the final version of the statutory guidance in July.
