The Association of Contingency Planners reaches 1,500 members mark

Get free weekly news by e-mailThe Association of Contingency Planners (ACP) is celebrating a new milestone, reaching 1,500 members for the first time in its history. This represents a 13 percent increase in membership since January 1st, 2005.

The Association attributes its rapid growth to the continued expansion of the business continuity profession. “Since 2001, medium to large corporations have pursued plans at an unprecedented rate, government leaders have encouraged planning, post-graduate academia has developed programs promoting the profession, and continuity professionals have seen steady annual increases in pay levels. The combination of these factors has contributed significantly to the expansion of the industry and the flow of new talent into the profession,” states ACP.

The Association attributes this growth to the success of its newest chapters in Memphis, Tennessee (MidSouth) and Northern New Jersey (Garden State) as well as significant growth in the Dallas, Texas (North Texas) chapter. The Association is also negotiating the chartering of several new chapters across the country before year-end.

Paul Striedl, ACP chairman, states, “This surge of new interest will contribute to the sustained growth of ACP and the industry. As the only national networking organization dedicated to working for business continuity professionals, we are well positioned to handle the impending growth. We will continue working hard to provide our members with access to educational and professional opportunities necessary to grow and be successful.”

Founded in 1983, ACP is a non-profit trade association dedicated to fostering continued professional growth and development in effective contingency and business resumption planning. With 25 chapters ACP is the largest networking and information exchange organisation in North America for business continuity and disaster recovery professionals. ACP membership is open to anyone with an interest in or responsibility for the varied aspects of contingency planning.
