Arsenal Digital Solutions has launched a fully managed, on-demand rapid server recovery service for business continuity and disaster recovery. ‘ViaRecovery’ is an automated solution that enables organisations to complete a secure bare metal recovery of business critical server operating systems, applications, and data up to 80 percent faster than traditional methods.
"At the heart of every good business continuity, disaster recovery and regulatory compliance plan is a sound strategy for rapid server, application and data recovery," said Adam Couture, principal analyst, Gartner. "Rebuilding a server is an arduous task. Recovering an application operating environment is complex, requires great human intervention and can sometimes take days to bring the environment back online - if at all."
"Arsenal is better positioned than ever in the burgeoning online data protection market," said Frank Brick, chairman and CEO of Arsenal Digital Solutions. "The launch of ViaRecovery enables us to offer the industry's only suite of fully managed, on-demand storage management services that protect geographically dispersed server operating systems, applications, files and databases, both onsite and remotely. These services provide customers the fastest, most reliable, secure and cost-effective data protection solutions for business continuity, disaster recovery and regulatory compliance."
With ViaRecovery, organisations can easily and reliably recover operating states, including OS/patches, applications, files, configurations and settings. In the event of a complete server failure, customers can recover a complete system within minutes or hours - not days. Since the pay-as-you-go service includes all hardware, software, maintenance and 24x7 monitoring and management, customers can cost-effectively overcome today's system and disaster recovery challenges with non-intrusive backups and a rapid, reliable approach to server recovery.
ViaRecovery utilises a preconfigured storage appliance installed on a customer's local area network to capture snapshots of the operating state of a server, without interrupting user productivity or application processing. These server images include applications and settings and all files and volumes, regardless whether they are in use, hidden or encrypted. A complete server image is captured each month, along with incremental images each week. Daily incrementals are also available for added protection. Should a protected server experience a failure, ViaRecovery enables secure rapid recovery at LAN speeds of a customer's most recent server image to a recovery target server that is similar (but not necessarily identical) to the protected server. Arsenal states that this eliminates the need to maintain identical server hardware for recovery.
For disaster recovery protection, an agent can be applied to the onsite appliance, enabling server images stored on the local recovery appliance to be efficiently backed up over a customer's existing network to an offsite vault. In the event of a complete site failure, customers can initiate a complete system, data and bare metal recovery to a recovery site of their choice. Depending on the recovery time objective, customers can either recover via their existing network or Arsenal will quick-ship an appliance containing the images required for server and data recovery.
