Three significant acquisitions have been made in the business continuity market this week. Hewlett-Packard has bought Schlumberger Business Continuity Services Ireland; UK-based Adam Continuity has been sold to Centerprise; and SunGard has acquired Vivista.
Schlumberger Business Continuity Services Ireland
Hewlett-Packard has acquired the Schlumberger Business Continuity Services Ireland for an undisclosed sum. The company provides disaster recovery services and work area recovery in Ireland , with seven recovery centres distributed across the country. Previously IBM had been refused permission by the Irish competition authority to acquire the company when it bought the rest of Schlumberger Business Continuity Services last year. Adam Continuity
Berkshire (UK) based Adam Continuity (registered as The Continuity Group Limited) has been bought by Centerprise International, one of the largest independent computer manufacturers in the UK. Adam Continuity provides disaster recovery, high availability and business continuity solutions, specialising in ship-and-drop DR. The fee paid for Adam Continuity has not been disclosed.
Founder and managing director of Centerprise, Rafi Razzak, commented on the acquisition: "We are confident that this first landmark acquisition by Centerprise will prove to be mutually beneficial, leading to greater opportunities and business expansion for both the parties concerned." SunGard acquires Vivista for £100m
SunGard has acquired Vivista Holdings Ltd in order to gain a strong platform into the UK public sector, with a company that has strong links with the UK government and its police forces. The transaction is initially worth just over £100m.
Based in Chippenham, Wiltshire, Vivista has offices around the UK . It is a relatively new company that was formed to acquire Securicor Info rmation Systems.
Vivista supplies ICT (information communication technology) and business support products to the UK public safety, criminal justice and local government market. It has around 600 staff, and its product range includes communication systems (voice and data), command-and-control systems, custody-management systems, record management systems and case-preparation systems as well as outsourced ICT managed services.
