BCI Australia gears up for Business Continuity Awareness Week

Get free weekly news by e-mailThe Business Continuity Institute in Australia is well advanced in its planning for Business Continuity Awareness Week, 13th-19th March 2005 .

Educational materials will focus on the tsunami disaster as an example of the need to plan for worst case scenarios rather than losing sight of specific low probability threats.

Highlights of preparations so far include:

1. The magazine ‘Risk Management’ has agreed to insert an article on Business Continuity Awareness Week in the March issue;

2. Fairfax press & Australian Broadcasting Corporation are being asked to feature prepared business continuity news releases;

3. Media invited by IIR to their 28th February – 2nd March BCM conference in Sydney . This event includes international speakers and attendees;

4. Australian Prudential Regulatory Authority draft Business Continuity Management Standard to be featured;

5. Joint promotions with the Continuity Forum (the Australian business continuity association - not to be confused with the unrelated UK organisation);

6. State Government Premiers Departments in NSW, Queensland and Victoria have all prescribed business continuity as essential practice for all departments, agencies and Government Owned Corporations. This approach to be highlighted;

7. BCI Forums in NSW, ACT, Victoria & Queensland will hold meetings in March during Business Continuity Awareness Week.

8. The BCI website will be referred to in all releases, as containing specific Business Continuity Awareness Week material and BCM information.
