Business Continuity Institute annual general meeting

Get free weekly news by e-mailThe BCI has published a summary of its 10th annual general meeting which was held on Thursday 4th November at the Radisson Hotel in Vienna.

A total of 53 BCI members attended the AGM, which was chaired by Steve Mellish, vice-chair of the BCI. Chairman, Larry Kalmis, was unable to attend. The agenda included: welcome and apologies; adoption of previous minutes; chairman’s report; adoption of accounts and election of auditors.

The results of the recent elections for vacant positions on the BCI board were announced, with those elected being Angela Robinson, Ian Charters, Andy Tomkinson, Paul Kirvan and Julie Viney.

The meeting included a “very lively” debate about a recent internal inquiry which was established to explore various complaints and issues raised by the previous chief executive officer, John Sharp. Steve Mellish stated that the BCI Board, meeting a few days before the AGM, felt it appropriate to publish a comprehensive version of the inquiry report but that because of potential legal implications, it would have to be slightly abbreviated to show the complaints without naming the individual board members involved. The inquiry report would be made available to BCI members from the 12th November 2004 said Mr. Mellish.

The AGM was brought to a close with the announcement that the next BCI Symposium would be held in Edinburgh on Thursday 3rd and Friday 4th November 2005.
