Limited software use by business continuity managers

Continuity Central’s software survey aims to discover how widespread the use of business continuity software is; what specific purposes it is being used for; which business continuity software packages are being used for; and how satisfied users are with their software.

The interim results of the survey have found that only half of business continuity managers (BCMs) are using specialist plan development and management software. When broken down into specific areas the results show that:

* 49 percent of BCMs use software to help write and develop continuity plans
* 50 percent use software to manage and update business continuity plans
* 29 percent use software to manage and co-ordinate crisis management response
* 25 percent use software to evaluate the adequacy of existing capabilities
* 18 percent use software to help train personnel.
