2 of the ‘Homeland Security Strategy for Critical Infrastructure
Protection in the Financial Services Sector’ has been published.
This strategy has been adopted by the Financial Services Sector
Coordinating Council for Critical Infrastructure Protection and
Homeland Security (the FSSCC). The FSSCC was created in 2002 to
foster and facilitate financial services sector-wide voluntary activities
and initiatives designed to improve critical infrastructure protection
and Homeland security. (www.fsscc.org)
The FSSCC has identified three US strategic
security objectives:
* Preventing terrorist attacks within the United
States,
* Identifying and reducing vulnerabilities to such attacks, and
* Ensuring the resiliency of the nation to minimise the damage and
expedite the recovery from attacks that do occur.
The Financial Services Strategy document identifies
efforts in the financial services sector to achieve the above objectives.
