Leading Swiss financial services company deploys highly available storage area network

PostFinance consolidates storage environment to assure the availability of more than 100 Terabytes of data.

Brocade Communications Systems Inc., the provider of infrastructure solutions for storage area networks (SANs), has announced that PostFinance, a leading Swiss financial services provider has deployed an enterprise-wide SAN based on Brocade to support the company's comprehensive business continuity strategy.

Using a Brocade SAN spanning six SilkWorm 12000 Core Fabric Switches, PostFinance consolidated its storage environment over a dual fabric SAN, supporting more than 100 Terabytes of financial data replicated to a remote site for full disaster recovery capabilities.

"As a result of implementing the Brocade SAN, we have increased storage utilisation from 60 to 90 percent, significantly enhanced application performance, and increased the availability and security of our customer information," said Benedikt Vonlanthen, storage management, PostFinance. "In addition, the Brocade SAN has enabled us to react more quickly to new developments in the finance sector, such as new corporate governance regulations, and reallocate our storage resources more accordingly."

"Businesses that rely on data intensive and mission critical applications have recognised the value of implementing open, heterogeneous SANs to assure business continuity and network performance. The Brocade SilkWorm 12000 plays an essential role in delivering a reliable networking model for storage environments where scalability, interoperability, performance, availability, and reliability are crucial," said Jay Kidd, Brocade vice president of Product Marketing.
