Digital Solutions, a provider of storage management services has
announced a partnership with Con Edison Communications (CEC), a
subsidiary of Consolidated Edison, Inc.
CEC will add Arsenal's ViaRemote, a fully managed,
network-based data protection service, to the suite of services
it currently markets to businesses in the New York City area. CEC
will re-brand ViaRemote as PowerProtect and offer it as a turnkey,
ultra-reliable utility service that makes it fast, easy and cost-effective
for companies to utilise Arsenal's network to protect data to a
secure, highly available offsite facility.
"Events such as September 11 and other
man-made and natural disasters have increased customer demand for
highly available and affordable data protection services for mission-critical
data," said Peter Rust, president and chief executive officer
of CEC. "Teaming with Arsenal enables CEC to provide businesses
of all sizes with an extremely valuable and desirable business continuity
and data protection service through a trusted local service provider."
The partnership will leverage CEC's metro area
network, which currently interconnects over 160 buildings in the
greater metro New York area and is within reach of 80 percent of
all commercial buildings in Manhattan. CEC's sales organisation
will market PowerProtect to both new and existing customers, while
relying on Arsenal for service delivery and management.
