Fault- and disaster-tolerant servers targeted at Japanese market

Get free weekly news by e-mailMarathon Technologies Corporation, the developer and supplier of fault- and disaster-tolerant software solutions for industry standard Microsoft Windows environments, has announced that Sumisho Electronics Co., Ltd. and IBM Japan Ltd., have agreed to cooperate in the sale of a continuous server solution based on IBM eServer xSeries and Marathon Endurance Virtual FTserver software product line. Sales begin in the second half of March 2004.

Marathon Endurance Virtual FTserver software enables the companies to sell a fault- and disaster-tolerant solution at a price point that is significantly lower than any other solution.

"By selling servers protected by Endurance software, Sumisho and IBM Japan are able to respond to the growing need for continuous server uptime," said George Tranos, president and CEO of Marathon Technologies. "Endurance protects any Windows application and is compatible with industry-standard server hardware without failover scripting, proprietary hardware components, or complex configuration/evaluation tasks associated with other high availability technology."

Configurations include Endurance software running on server hardware in a fully duplexed configuration using two IBM eServer xSeries. A 2U and 4U model are available depending on the server model used.
