VERITAS launches new clustering and replication capabilities for an integrated disaster recovery solution

Volume Replicator 4.0 is integrated high availability and disaster recovery software which has new features that provide capabilities to test, plan and validate disaster recovery scenarios, without disrupting applications. Together, VERITAS Cluster Server and VERITAS Volume Replicator provide a complete solution for high availability and disaster recovery with protection against application downtime and data loss.

VERITAS Cluster Server 4.0 is an open systems clustering solution designed to minimise both planned and unplanned application and database downtime in heterogeneous environments, provides local high availability, campus clustering, metropolitan disaster recovery and wide area disaster recovery. VERITAS Cluster Server integrates with VERITAS Volume Replicator.

Key new features in VERITAS Cluster Server 4.0 and VERITAS Volume Replicator 4.0 include:
* Disaster Recovery Fire Drill - provides capabilities to freely test, plan and validate disaster recovery plans, while in production without disruption.
* Cluster Simulator - tests application failover scenarios to validate application availability and verify that applications are migrated to the most appropriate server based on a planned failover strategy and application requirements.
* Global Cluster Option - quickly and easily upgrades to any architecture as availability requirements move from local to wide-area disaster recovery.
* Immediate Access to Replicated Data - instantly accesses data, as it is being replicated, while only using a fraction of customers' available storage capacity.
* Volume Replicator Advisor - accurately analyses bandwidth requirements to ensure replication is optimised.
