Mark
Welsh, UK contingency and audit manager for EDS, has been appointed
chairman of SunGard Availability Services' Customer Advisory Board.
EDS, the global outsourcing services company,
has been a customer of SunGard for over 10 years. Mark has worked
in the business continuity sector for 14 years, and is currently
responsible for a team of audit compliance officers, managing a
24-hour alarm monitoring centre as well as a team of practitioners
delivering a full disaster recovery service for many of EDS' major
customers.
SunGard's Customer Advisory Board has been
established for nearly twenty years; it provides a forum for effective
communication and information sharing between SunGard, its customers
and key professional, government and regulatory agencies. Mark takes
over from Julia Graham, group risk manager at Royal & SunAlliance.
Julia will shortly be leaving RSA to take up a new position and
relinquish her role as chair of the Board.
"I'm delighted to take on responsibility
for ensuring that there is two-way communication between SunGard's
management team and its customers," said Mark. "I'm keen
to encourage input from all customers, no matter how large or small,
who can contact any member of the Board with their comments and
views."
Keith Tilley, UK managing director at SunGard
Availability Services, said: "As the leading provider of information
availability services, we are looking to constantly improve and
evolve our service offering. Feedback from the Advisory Board is
invaluable, and we have every confidence in Mark's ability to deliver
this to us." SunGard also welcomes David McManus, assistant
group secretary and group business continuity manager of B&CE
Benefit Schemes to the Board. David is responsible for implementing
and managing the company's contingency plans, and is a member of
the Business Continuity Institute. David expands representation
on the board with regard to clients whose business continuity requirements
are within the SME arena and therefore will add views and insight
from a differing perspective.
An additional appointment to the Board is expected
within the next few months.
