IBM
has announced two enhancements to its Protection Express small and
medium business disaster recovery services.
With Protection Express for
iSeries, in the event of a disaster or the failure of a machine,
IBM will quick-ship an iSeries or AS/400 to a designated location.
Included with the offering is a two-day workshop designed to help
clients build a personalised disaster recovery plan for their business.
IBM has now announced two new optional features
for Protection Express:
*
iSeries Mobile Recovery Center - in the event that a client’s
facility is not available, the company can relocate its IT operations
to an IBM Mobile Recovery Center. These are strategically located
throughout North America, and can be shipped to an appropriate destination
in a timely fashion, providing temporary recovery space for the
Protection Express iSeries system and company IT operations.
* iSeries system restore test
- designed to test the restoration process of clients’ iSeries
or AS/400 entire system save. The customer sends IBM backup tapes
containing a complete iSeries or AS/400 system save. IBM recovery
experts will then restore the tapes and will report on any problems
found during the restore process. For more complete assurance IBM
has added a remote customer access feature. This feature enables
client’s to remotely connect into the system and conduct a
four-hour test of their own applications.
