The Saudi Arabia based National Commercial Bank (NCB) recently became the first bank in that country to be awarded BS 25999 certification. On receiving the certificate from BSI regional managing director, Theuns Kotze, Mr. Abdulkareem Abu AlNasr chief executive officer, NCB said: "It is a great honour and privilege to be recognized as the first bank in KSA to receive this certificate. Our number one priority is the safety and wellbeing of our employees but we never forget our key stakeholders in our rigorous and thorough BCM planning and implementation."

Abu Dhabi Investment Council (ADIC) the investment arm of the government of Abu Dhabi has recently completed the set up of a business continuity site through the installation of a redundant data center. The implementation of the site was completed by a team of specialists from Alpha Data, UAE’s leading multi-disciplined systems integrator.

According to Middle East Online, Egyptian security forces have arrested 26 suspected al-Qaeda cell-members on charges of plotting attacks on foreign ships passing through the Suez Canal. The suspects are alleged to have prepared remote controlled detonators and explosives and were waiting for instructions from abroad from an Al-Qaeda operative.
