The Disaster Recovery Coordinator (DRC) will provide leadership
in coordinating, assessing, developing, and communicating disaster
recovery requirements and disaster recovery plans/exercises associated
with business functions. The focus will be to protect the business
functions in the event that facilities or technology resources are
unavailable due to an unforeseen disruption. The DRC will provide
complex project leadership between the technology groups and other
business functions, emphasizing regular, direct communication with
application support management. The DRC will also work with the
business functions to provide for manual/off-line procedure development
designed to mitigate risk associated with complete or partial failure
of facilities, technology systems or applications related to a disruption.
Coordinate exercise objectives with Business
Continuity Planning. Report on exercise results and follow-up on
issue resolutions. Maintain up-to-date contingency plan and area
recovery scripts. Promote the enhancement of the processes to improve
in disaster recovery.
Understand the Business Impact Analysis (BIA)
requirements for how must respond in recovery, to insure all coordinators
understand the responsibilities of their units. Work with various
departments to identify impediments. Work with subject matter architects
to promote recoverability in architecture and design alternatives.
Work with staff on technology-based initiatives to improve recovery
capabilities. Coordinate the development and maintenance of recovery
strategies across the division. Conduct periodic reviews of continuity
plans for prioritization, cohesiveness, with consistent and realistic
objectives. Identify opportunities to enhance recovery. Ensure training
and proficiency of area coordinators.
Work with Business units to conduct exercises
to validate continuity plans. Promote awareness and understanding
of responsibilities and capabilities in time of disaster. Develop
disaster recovery education to include orientation for new hires
and consultants, introducing recovery capabilities and responsibilities.
Develop process for ongoing notification of recovery enhancements.
Publish recovery exercise results across the division. Working with
the business units on their recovery demands and communicate impacts
on Data Center capabilities.
Experience:
Qualified applicants must possess a BA/BS in Business, Information
Management or related field – OR- at least 6 years relevant
experience. Project Management experience is required. Must possess
a working knowledge of all areas of the organization and the ability
to develop a clear understanding of the company’s key functional
processes and resources; data processing; and data and voice telecommunications
in order to assist in the preparation and evaluation of disaster
recovery procedures in the area. An understanding of financial applications,
multi system disciplines and interdependencies required.
A thorough knowledge and understanding of current
disaster recovery planning techniques and technologies as well as
the methods used in performing risk analyses and business impact
analyses is essential. Good project management and organization
skills; excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interface
with all managers and staff at all levels and to deal with vendors;
Good oral communication and written communications skills required.
Certifications as a Business Continuity Planner,
and/or an Associate Disaster Recovery Planner are preferred.
