The Civil Contingencies Team supports the Council and its strategic partners in preparing for and responding to a range of emergencies and disruptions. Ensuring the Council meets its responsibilities under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004, the team works with a wide range of internal and external partners to develop arrangements ensuring that London Borough of Croydon is a safe environment for those who visit, live and work in the borough.
The successful candidate will be working within the team being responsible for the Council’s business continuity planning ensuring the Council is able to continue providing essential services in the event of major incidents within the Borough. The team operates an out of hours call out system, which ensures that there is an appropriate response to such incidents. An allowance is paid for being on call.
The person appointed will lead on the development, reviewing and testing of Department Business Continuity Plans. Much work has been carried out in this field over the past year and we are looking for this to continue. The post holder will also be responsible for the promotion of business continuity planning within the local business community.
Preferably having knowledge of the Civil Contingencies Act 2004, BS25999 combined with an enthusiasm and commitment, this role will enable you to further develop skills required within the resilience arena. A relevant qualification in business continuity would be an advantage as well as membership of a relevant professional body.
