Salary: £46,050 to £47,907, plus on call allowance & essential car user allowance.
The Civil Contingencies Team supports the Council and its strategic partners in preparing for and responding to a range of emergencies and disruptions. Ensuring the Council meets its responsibilities under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004, the team works with a wide range of internal and external partners to develop arrangements ensuring that London Borough of Croydon is a safe environment for those who visit, live and work in the borough.
The role will involve liaising with Council Officers and key partner agencies, assessing hazards and vulnerability, ensuring the production and maintenance of emergency and business continuity plans and enabling these plans to be implemented during an emergency incident.
We are looking for an individual who is confident in leading a team. You are likely to have a track record in emergency planning at an operational level and a working knowledge of business continuity issues including BS25999. You will also possess strong communication skills and the ability to motivate others. You should ideally have a broad understanding of the work of local authorities and local resilience forums.
This role will also include the management and supervisory responsibility for a team which includes an emergency planning consultant and a business continuity consultant.
Preferably educated to degree level and having knowledge of the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 combined with an enthusiasm and commitment, this role will enable you to further develop skills required within the resilience arena. A relevant qualification in civil protection as well as membership of a relevant professional body would be an advantage.
