QUALIFICATIONS:

Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in business, emergency management, disaster recovery, information technologies or related field. Four years of related work experience can be used in lieu of a degree.

A business continuity or emergency management professional certification is preferred: for example, CBCP (Certified Business Continuity Professional), MBCP (Master Business Continuity Professional), Certified Functional Continuity Professional (CFCP), Certified Emergency Manager® (CEM®), or FBCI (Fellow, Business Continuity Institute) PMBOK (Project Management Book of Knowledge).

A minimum of two years experience of working in corporate business continuity or emergency preparedness is required along with an additional year of experience as a Project Manager.

Management skills are necessary in order to motivate strategic corporate-wide team and to ensure a productive and cooperative relationship among divisions on corporate projects.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, presentation skills and quality human relation skills are required.

Must be able to prepare formal documents, presentations and meeting materials. Good problem solving and critical thinking skills. Proficient analytical skills are required along with PC skills to support and document analyses.

Self-directed in accomplishing set objectives within agreed timeframes.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Responsible for assisting with the development of BCBSLA's Business Continuity program that includes business resumption, recovery, restoration and disaster recovery plans that allows for business continuation in the event of disruptions and will ensure that the Business Continuity program complies with the health insurance industries rules and regulations.

Prepares Business Impact Analyses (BIA) to assess internal and external threats and the risk they pose to the Company, and recommends mitigation strategies to reduce or eliminate identified risks.

Assist with the exercising of the Business Continuity and emergency plans, including table top, simulation and mock exercises, to ensure accuracy and effectiveness of each plan, and practice the ability of the company management and staff to resume and recover business operations from a catastrophic event.

Manages strategic and corporate projects and activities that are multi-disciplinary by nature and are critical to corporate goals and objectives. Develop projects plans, coordinate activities, monitor progress, report status and present recommendations to management.

Conduct on-going employee and management awareness and education activities of the Business Continuity Program to ensure the welfare of staff and the mitigation of adversity.
