Andersen Steinberg are currently recruiting for one of their clients for a Disaster Recovery Specialist.

Job summary

Responsible for security and integrity of assigned electronic data, data systems, and data networks and provides support in the emergency management and business recovery plans.

Major responsibilities

Technical/Operational

• Identifies critical business processes and establish resources required for the successful resumption of business operations in the event of a disaster

• Identifies points of vulnerability in the institute and develops disaster avoidance and reduction plan

• Implement templates for standardizing all technical backup and recovery procedures for all sites.

• Develops appropriate off site data and document repositories to be utilized if information were to be irretrievable at the IT department due to a disaster

• Implements a plan to provide fail-over capacity of all mission critical servers, applications and networks.

• Monitors and manages the system resources, CPU usage, database usage, and response times to maintain the operating efficiency.

• Reviews and standardizes all recovery plans, including process and procedural standards to address routine, backup, redundancy and recovery architectures.

• Performs systems backups and recovery procedures.

• Conducts disaster recovery testing.

• Creates response procedures and identifies communication channels.

• Develop and maintain IT continuity plan

Reporting

• Communicates with various response teams during testing, actual execution of recovery procedures and supports the design, development, installation, implementation and administration of backup solutions.

• Conducts regular reviews with appropriate IT departments

• Assists the Data Center Manager in developing reports, highlighting key indicators and offering recommendations

• Escalates any risks and issues to the management

Facilitation

• Initiates activities to increase disaster recovery awareness and education

• Provides leadership and direction to designated team (When assigned)

• Mentors and guides junior employees (inside and outside the department)

• Provides feedback on disaster recovery team to senior management

Technical Skills

Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)

Required Education

Bachelors in Computer Science or related degree
