Andersen Steinberg are currently recruiting for one of their clients, a leading financial services organisation, for a Business Continuity and IT Support specialist with experience in the financial services sector.

Summary

The successful candidate will become a key player in an IT support team providing business aligned IT services to the company’s offices throughout Asia with a focus on day to day support of the Hong Kong office and regional business resumption and recovery services.

This role has two key aspects, the first being an experienced desktop support lead for the region, the second aspect of the role is working as part of our Business Continuity Management team.

As lead in desktop support, you will play the part of mentor to the more junior desktop support staff and a leader in problem resolution. You will provide excellent service delivery, developing an understanding of the business requirements and priorities which will allow you to help IT deliver projects, service and solutions within budgetary constraints. You will be expected to work closely with the regional staff and equally as important colleague’s communication with London and New York IT teams.

In the role of regional Business Continuity Manager you will have…

• The ability to conduct workshops, train others and give effective presentations
• Coordinate exercises at different levels driving scope and objectives for participants and management
• Understand concepts of business continuity planning from the business side
• Ability to conduct interviews to assist with the Business Impact Analysis
• Ability to analyze data and provide reporting
• Work with and drive the BCP Coordinators in all locations within the region
• The ability to follow an existing, structured process and make it successful
• Strong understanding of work from home concepts
• At least 2 years BC/DR experience with good understanding of the business
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong project management skills
• Good office skills including Word, Excel PowerPoint and MS Project
• Understanding of the regulatory requirements in the region
• The ability to work with the regional BCM Teams

This role will have dual reporting to the Head of APAC IT based in Hong Kong and the Head of Business Recovery in New York.; the successful candidate will also have excellent people skills, a “can do” attitude and a flexible approach to resolving business problems. They will confidently take ownership of any IT related issue on behalf of the business, regardless of its nature and ensure the business owner receives a satisfactory resolution with SLA.

• Experiencing leading or mentoring other staff

Primary Skills
The individual will ideally possess all of the following skills and experience:

• At least eight years experience directly supporting traders or portfolio managers in a global financial institution, ideally with a desktop support background
• A strong technical understanding of Windows XP Professional and Windows server operating systems to MCSE level.
• Excellent English skills. Mandarin, Cantonese and Korean an advantage
• Strong Project Management experience
• At least 2 years BC/DR experience with good understanding of the business preferred
• Understand the concepts of business continuity planning from the business side

Secondary Technical Skills
The individual will possess the majority of the following skills:

• A firm understanding of LAN\WAN technologies, a solid understanding of TCP/IP networking.
• The skills to provide broadband, ISDN, analogue and VPN configuration and troubleshooting.
• The ability to support personal organizers such as Blackberry devices.
• Ability to analyze data and provide reporting
• Strong understanding of work from home concepts

Responsibilities
The individual the will undertake the following responsibilities:

• Provide an excellent level of IT support to onsite, remote and travelling users.
• Ensure that solutions comply with global standards.
• Manage or assist with any IT related project as required.
• Escalate problems to vendors and in-house experts when required.
• conduct workshops, train others and give effective presentations
• Coordinate business recover exercises at different levels driving scope and objectives for participants and management
• Understand regional regulatory requirements for BCP and represent that to the US
• Conduct interviews to assist with the Business Impact Analysis
• Work with and drive the BCP Coordinators in all locations within the region
• The ability to follow an existing, structured process and make it successful

Qualifications
Ideally..

• A 2.1 or better Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Current Microsoft Certified Software Engineer (MCSE) accreditation.
