An interesting role within one of the UK’s leading companies as a Business Continuity Specialist.
Accountabilities & Deliverables
• Identification and Assessment of Business Continuity (BC) risks in business operations, including both current and new business operations and clarification of risk ownership / sharing within and across company boundaries
• Working with all of areas of the business to provide guidance in developing and maintaining effective business continuity solutions including plan management, training / awareness, technical recovery and exercising / assurance in line with BS25999
• Relationship Management for all allocated contracts / clients performed through the regular and effective reporting of risk, capability and coverage
• Advise of any consultancy opportunities identified and assist in developing the opportunity to provide a revenue stream to the Business Continuity Team (BCT)
• New Business - working as part of company bid teams on new client / contract bids and working direct with existing clients to develop new BC services
• Reporting the position of each Business / Client’s alignment to BS25999 in line with the BCT Reporting Structure
• Assist in the management of Incidents which impact on the delivery of the service to the Client
• Assist in the management of any Supplier relationship, external & internal, which the BCT have in place to support the solutions which have been developed
Key Measures
• Ensure that BC Co-ordinators / contacts are in place for all areas of company and communicate on a regular basis with each area
• Ensure that BC Plans are documented and tested in line with the contractual obligations agreed with the Client
• Identify, reporting and monitoring progress against BCP Risks
• Review and interpret documentation producing by the Business Continuity contacts / co-ordinators and provide documented feedback in line with the requirements for BS25999 identifying dependencies and weaknesses and to ensure an effective Continuity / Recovery Strategy
• Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of the BCT’s policy, documentation and framework in line with BS25999.
• Assist in the development and perform / organise training for all Business Continuity contacts / co-ordinators and deputies
• Manage offsite tests from Initiation to the production of Post Test Report
• Post Incident reports produced after each incident
• Support the bid teams where BC is required in the production and costing of solutions
• Participate in regular meetings with Suppliers, external & Internal to review the service provided and identified improvements and cost savings
Core Skills, Knowledge and Attributes
• Detailed knowledge of BS25999
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Good understanding of the Business and organisation including the technology used by the Company
• Good organisational skills / team player / well motivated and used to working to tight timescales
• Good interpersonal skills including Customer service and communication skills
• Excellent attention to detail with a questioning and probing approach
• Good project and planning skills
• One of the successful candidates will have an emphasis on strong and detailed knowledge of BCM lifecycle and an ability to work with business managers to ensure BCM is embedded in the business
• The other candidate does not need such strong knowledge of BCM (they do need to have a good appreciation of the rationale and processes, but they will need a strong business acumen, strong communication and negotiation skills
• Hold a driving licence and be happy to travel within the UK, with perhaps some international travel over time
Relationships
• Good working relationship with other members of the BCT
• Good working relationship with contacts / co-ordinators within the Business
• Good working relationship with Technical resource required to deliver the BC Solution
• Ability to obtain the best level of service from internal and external supplier
